Considered at their most basic level,  crown moldings are just strips of wood designed to cover up problems. Sure, they do their job attractively, but if you really want to see moldings work decorative wonders, use two, three, four or more in combination to multiply their impact. Multiple moldings can be as simple or as elaborate as you want to make them. One woodworking business I know takes the concept to extremes when finishing off fancy interiors for bars and restaurants.
